Navigating the Admin Console

Overview

The ASCEND Admin Console uses a tab-based navigation system that provides quick access to all administrative functions. This guide covers how to navigate effectively through the console and locate specific features.

Prerequisites

  • Admin or Org_Admin role access
  • Successful authentication with valid session

Accessing the Admin Console

Step-by-Step Access

  1. Log in to the ASCEND platform with administrator credentials
  2. Navigate to the main sidebar menu
  3. Click on "Admin Console" in the navigation
  4. The console opens with the Overview tab selected by default

Direct URL Access

You can access the Admin Console directly using the URL pattern:

https://your-domain.ascend.ai/admin

Replace your-domain with your organization's ASCEND subdomain.

Tab Structure

The Admin Console displays six tabs in a horizontal navigation bar:

Switching Between Tabs

  1. Click on the tab label or icon to switch views
  2. The active tab is highlighted with a visual indicator
  3. Tab content loads immediately without page refresh
  4. Your position is preserved when returning to a tab

Overview Tab Navigation

Usage Alerts Section

When resource usage approaches limits, alert banners appear at the top:

  • Critical Alerts (Red): Displayed with a warning icon when usage exceeds 95%
  • Warning Alerts (Orange): Displayed when usage exceeds 80%

Each alert shows:

  • Resource name
  • Current usage vs. limit
  • Percentage consumed
  • Recommended action

Real-time Status Bar

The status bar displays system health metrics:

  1. System Status Indicator: Green dot for healthy, amber for degraded
  2. Active Users: Current logged-in user count
  3. Pending Actions: Awaiting approval queue size
  4. API Latency: Current response time in milliseconds
  5. Last Update: Timestamp of the most recent status refresh

Statistics Cards

Three cards display key metrics:

  • Click on any card to navigate to the related detailed view
  • Cards refresh automatically every 30 seconds

Subscription and Activity Sections

  • Subscription Status: Shows tier badge and status
  • Recent Activity: Displays last 5 events with timestamps

Organization Tab Navigation

Settings Form

Navigate the organization settings form:

  1. Organization Name: Editable text field
  2. Organization Slug: Read-only identifier
  3. Industry Dropdown: Select from predefined industries
  4. Contact Fields: Primary and support email inputs

Security Settings Section

Located below the main form:

  1. MFA Toggle: Checkbox with help text
  2. SSO Toggle: Checkbox with configuration status
  3. Session Timeout: Numeric input with validation

Saving Changes

  • Click "Save Changes" button at the bottom
  • Loading indicator appears during save
  • Success/error toast notification confirms result

Users Tab Navigation

User Table

The user table displays all organization members:

Bulk Operations Bar

Appears when users are selected:

  1. Selection Count: Shows number selected
  2. Suspend Button: Suspend multiple users
  3. Reactivate Button: Reactivate multiple users
  4. Change Role Button: Opens role selection modal
  5. Delete Button: Remove multiple users
  6. Clear Selection: Deselect all

User Actions Dropdown

Click the three-dot menu (vertical ellipsis) to access:

  1. Edit Profile
  2. View Activity
  3. Suspend/Reactivate
  4. Reset Password
  5. Force Logout
  6. Remove User (separated by divider)

Invite User Modal

  1. Click "+ Invite User" button
  2. Fill in required fields:
    • Email Address
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Role (dropdown)
  3. Click "Send Invitation"

Billing Tab Navigation

Subscription Card

Displays current plan information:

  • Tier badge (PILOT, PROFESSIONAL, BUSINESS, ENTERPRISE)
  • Status badge (Active, Trial, Suspended)
  • Trial countdown (if applicable)

Usage Bars

Four progress bars show resource consumption:

  1. Hover over any bar to see exact numbers
  2. Bars change color based on usage percentage:
    • Green: 0-79%
    • Amber: 80-94%
    • Red: 95-100%

Invoice Table

  • Scroll through invoice history
  • Click "Download" to get PDF receipts
  • Status badges show payment state

Analytics Tab Navigation

Period Selector

Dropdown at top right:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days

Metrics Cards

Four cards with trend indicators:

  • Click card title to expand detail view
  • Trend arrows show period-over-period change

Charts Section

Interactive bar charts for:

  • API Calls over time
  • Active Users over time
  • Alerts Processed over time

Data Tables

  • API Usage by Endpoint: Sortable table of endpoint statistics
  • Top Users by Activity: Leaderboard of most active users

Audit Log Tab Navigation

Filters Bar

  1. Search Input: Free-text search across events
  2. Event Type Dropdown: Filter by specific event types
  3. Time Range Dropdown: Select 24 hours to 90 days

Export Functions

Located in the header:

  • CSV Button: Download spreadsheet format
  • JSON Button: Download machine-readable format
  • Refresh Button: Reload current view

  1. Bookmark Frequently Used Tabs: Save direct URLs to specific tabs
  2. Use Search First: In Users and Audit tabs, search before scrolling
  3. Monitor Usage Alerts: Address warnings before they become critical
  4. Regular Exports: Schedule weekly audit log exports for compliance
  5. Batch Operations: Use bulk selection for managing multiple users
